Colgate-Palmolive severed advertising ties with ABS-CBN due to high rates
Thursday, July 9th, 2009
An avid Kapamilya might wonder why they haven’t seen a Colgate-Palmolive brand commercial since April. An advertising insider informed me that the multinational producer of toothpaste and shampoo has pricing disagreement with multimedia giant ABS-CBN.
The tension began when Colgate-Palmolive Philippines demanded ABS-CBN to slash its advertising rates by half. The request cannot be entertained by ABS-CBN as it strictly follows the 18-minute-per hour industry-prescribed maximum advertising load. However, ABS-CBN has a long queue of other advertisers who want to purchase slots from its Primetime Bida.
Colgate-Palmolive had found sanctuary to ABS-CBN’s rival, GMA Network as it does not follow the 18-minute industry-prescribed rule.

Thanks for the info. How sad ABS-CBN didn’t air Colgate-Palmolive TV ad following their cost-cutting measures in 2009 and the downfall of their Mega Manila TV ratings since 2004.
