Spoken like a true trapo. Atienza advises Pacquiao on politics
Friday, July 31st, 2009
It would come as no surprise should the boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao decide to run for a seat in Congress again. Last elections, he was defeated by opposition stalwart Darlene Antonino.
Whats seems to be annoying surprising is the fact that Former Manila mayor and DENR Secretary Lito Atienza advised Manny to seek House seat through party-list instead. He said that Manny should come up with a party-list advocating Sports. Did I hear that right? Since when did Sports or something to that effect become part of the marginalized sector?
I guess the DENR Secretary should study his constitutional provisions on the Legislative Branch. With a multi-million earning sports superstar as frontrunner, I highly doubt that would qualify as marginalized.
As a political scientist myself, my unsolicited advice to Pacquiao is that if he is indeed sincere in his efforts to help people, why would he bother to seek political office? Why not establish an NGO dedicated to empowering the grassroots. In that paradigm, he can really serve the interests of the masses.

i hope manny won’t go into all this political bull. we don’t need another lito lapid in congress, but we need more fights to have 9am beers to in national sports grill.haha
but seriously, if manny NEEDS to retire, he should go into what he does best like boxing. set up something like a boxing production house like golden boy. teach kids to channel their energies to sports. sports clinics or just go into business.don’t do it manny! nooooo!
