Miss Earth 2009 coronation night set in Boracay

The Miss Earth 2009 coronation night will be held in Boracay island, one of the country’s top tourist spots, this coming November 22.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Lorraine Schuck of Carousel Productions Inc., said the event will be held at the Boracay Ecovillage Resort and Convention Center. Carousel productions is behind the cause-oriented beauty pageant.

Schuck said the island is the perfect venue because it will boast the best of what the Philippines can offer.

“Alam kong popular ang Boracay worldwide, pero marami pa din diyang hindi nakakaalam. O baka ‘yong nakapunta ay pumunta ulit. (Ito ay) para malaman nila kung ano ang nangyayari doon (sa isla at) kung ano ang bagong facilities at maio-offer ng Boracay,” she said.

Aside from promoting the beauty of the island, the organization’s primary reason on bringing the pageant to Boaracay is to promote the island’s protection from environmental degradation.
