Mar Roxas tweets honeymoon experience
Friday, October 30th, 2009Expect transparency from Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, even about his Japan honeymoon with wife Korina Sanchez-Roxas.
The Senator took to “tweeting” the first few hours of the newlywed couple’s Japan sojourn on social networking site Twitter, much as he had tweeted about his experiences before their lavish wedding at the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City on October 27, Tuesday.
“Excited to check-in airport as Mr. and Mrs..,” Roxas wrote in a tweet around 1:30 p.m. (Manila time) on Thursday. “Reminder have to update paperwork, travel docs to reflect new status.”
As the couple boarded a Japan-bound plane an hour later at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Roxas tweeted: “Onboard now. Japanese efficiency and attention to detail always amazes me… to the max! The secret to industrial might.”
At 8:30 p.m. (Japan time), their plane touched down at the Tokyo Narita International Airport.
“Just landed..on time. Crew surprised K and me with a small cake. Very sweet gesture. Off to customs and immigration,” Roxas tweeted.
The Senator added that “everyone [was] wearing masks [because they were] extra careful with [A]H1N1.”
He described the quarantine procedure as “super strict” and that he “held his breath so as not to be pulled aside.”
“Grabe nangati lalamunan ko while in front of customs guy. Swallow ako ng swallow para di maubo, haha. Lahat dito militante laban sa [A]H1N1,” Roxas said
About 2 hours later, the Senator tweeted again. “Made it to city. Decided to eat before going to hotel. Hakata ipudo ramen house in Ebisu area,” he said, around 9:40 p.m., Japan time.
The couple dined in what Roxas described as a “small neighborhood place” with 30-capacity counter-and-stool seating.
The crowd around them as they ate were all sporting tattoos, leather, and chains, while others wore business suits.
“Jazz playing and traditional japanese food (sic) of ramen and gyoza… Sarap. Saya. Mura pa… Ahhh this is the life!” he said, around an hour later.
The Senator’s last tweet, meanwhile, was around 11 p.m., Japan time, when the couple were reportedly at their hotel room. “Finally after nearly [10 hours] door to door, were in the hotel, bellboy had left. We can now explore all the buttons, gadgets & movies in room.”
All the senator’s Tweets were input via “mobile web”, meaning Roxas may be Tweeting through his cellular phone’s mobile internet browser.
Roxas is one of a handful of politicians who have set up Twitter accounts. The other tweeting politicians are his Liberal Party running mate Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, Sen. Pia Cayetano and Defense Sec. Gilbert Teodoro.
Roxas, however, is markedly more eager to share detailed personal information. As of posting, 15,827 people who are following his Twitter page are privy to these information.
